Feeling tired, foggy, or just not quite yourself lately? You’re not alone. I was feeling the same, especially at certain times of the month. My body was asking for a boost, and my husband mentioned a vitamin B complex shot. He has been doing this for a few months now, as he is on a carb-depleting phase of his diet and needed energy for his workouts.
I started reading that more and more women are turning to Vitamin B complex injections to support their energy, mood, metabolism, and overall health. So I thought why not try it and write about it!
What Is a Vitamin B Complex Shot?
A Vitamin B complex shot is an intramuscular injection that delivers a blend of essential B vitamins, usually including B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 (pyridoxine), B7 (biotin), B9 (folate), and B12 (cobalamin), directly into your bloodstream.
This method bypasses the digestive system, offering rapid absorption and higher bioavailability than pills or food sources.
Why Is It Better Than Taking a Tablet?
While oral supplements can be helpful, they often pass through your digestive system with limited absorption, especially if you have gut health issues, low stomach acid, or other conditions (like IBS or celiac disease).
B complex shots are:
Faster acting – You feel the benefits in hours (that was me!) or days, not weeks.
More efficient – Up to 100% absorption compared to 20–50% from pills.
Ideal for deficiencies – Particularly for B12 9vegans and vegetarians), where tablets often fall short.
Why Women Benefit from B Complex Shots

B vitamins are crucial for hormone regulation, energy production, and brain health—three areas where women often struggle due to stress, perimenopause, menstruation, or nutrient deficiencies.
Here’s what they support:
✔️ Energy Boost
B vitamins help convert food into energy. If you’re always tired, even after sleeping well, a deficiency may be the reason. This review shows that B vitamins play a crucial role in metabolic pathways, like the citric acid cycle and electron transport chain, that convert food into ATP, the body’s energy currency.
✔️ Mood and Mental Health
B6, B9, and B12 play a key role in serotonin and dopamine production, essential for managing anxiety, mood swings, and low motivation. A systematic review and meta-analysis of 16 trials (2,015 participants) found that B vitamin supplementation can improve mood, especially by reducing stress, in both healthy and at-risk populations.
✔️ Hormonal Balance
Vitamin B6 helps regulate progesterone and estrogen, especially helpful during PMS, perimenopause, and menopause. This study shows that vitamin B6 aids the production of sex, stress, and sleep hormones. It metabolises and regulates estrogen and progesterone, stabilising your menstrual cycle and reducing PMS symptoms.
✔️ Hair, Skin & Nail Health
Biotin (B7) is a beauty powerhouse. It helps strengthen brittle nails, improve hair thickness, and soothe irritated skin. This study found significant improvement in hair growth as well as self-assessed improvements in hair strength, shedding, and appearance when patients took vitamin B gummies daily.
✔️ Brain Function and Focus
B12 and folate are linked to memory, cognition, and preventing brain fog. A study of 95 studies (over 46,000 participants) found that B vitamin supplementation, especially folat, can slow cognitive decline, particularly when started early and continued for over 12 months in non-dementia adults.
✔️ Metabolism and Weight Regulation
B vitamins help metabolise carbs, fats, and proteins, essential for maintaining a healthy weight and blood sugar levels. A study found that increasing the consumption of B1, B2, and B6 may significantly lower values of indices of obesity and cardiac function regardless of sex differences. Thus reducing the occurrence of obesity and related coronary heart diseases.
✔️ Pregnancy
B vitamins, especially folate, are good for pregnant women as they help give her energy, may help prevent major birth defects of the fetus’s brain and spine called neural tube defects (NTDs) and this systematic review found that Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) is effective in reducing nausea and vomiting during pregnancy (NVP).
How I Used It

I tried a quarter of a dose, which came in a 10ml vial bought from a local pharmacy and administered by a doctor we trust. The doctor suggested starting on a quarter of the dose for 2 weeks, and then after a month, I could do half a dose once a month. It was quick, a slight head rush and then I was so hungry afterwards! The effects on me (my metabolism is quite quick) happened within 15-20 minutes and lasted 3 days. I felt I had more energy, and my appetite was stronger.

This is me after the shot….very hungry! The full video blog is here.
How Often Should You Get It?
It varies based on your levels and goals. Some women benefit from weekly shots at first, then shift to monthly maintenance. Always consult a healthcare provider to assess your needs through bloodwork or symptoms.
The Bottom Line
If you’re looking for a natural, effective way to boost your energy, lift your mood, and support your hormones, Vitamin B complex shots could be a game-changer.
Sometimes, it’s not about doing more, it’s about giving your body the right tools to feel your best. I will keep up with the doses and update you all on here.
